Political Critic Stanley Nwabia Passes On At 43.

Political critic and activist Stanley Nwabia has died.

Family sources told newsmen that Mr Nwabia died in the early hours of Sunday following an unsuccessful blood transfusion procedure in Lagos. He was 43.

Ojugo Onyeluka (@GentleOjay) told PREMIUM TIMES he spoke with Mr Nwabia’s wife and she confirmed the passing of her husband.

It was not immediately clear why the procedure was necessary for a man who appeared agile and socially adept. His last Tweet was three days ago, indicating he might have fallen ill beyond recovery after that.

“His wife was sobbing uncontrollably,” Mr Onyeluka said. “I was also too emotionally broken to ask him why the transfusion had to be done so urgently.”

Some of his associates have also tweeted confirmation of his passing and hailed him as a courageous political commentator and patriot.

Mr Nwabia is popular amongst supporters of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, which he used his Twitter handle (@MrStanleyNwabia) to champion online. Some of his associates have speculated a kidney failure as the cause of death.

Mr Nwabia’s admiration of the PDP has earned him tremendous respect amongst the opposition commentators online.

His criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress also made him a regular target for ferocious attacks from pro-government social media users.

His online activities included standing as a public relations expert and fixer for PDP politicians.

A native of Abia State, Mr Nwabia was born in Lagos and lived there throughout his life.

He is survived by a wife and four children.

Police Investigate Nigerian Citizen’s Death In UK Detention Centre.

Oscar Okwurime, a Nigerian national whose death in a detention centre in the UK is the subject of an investigation by the Home Office, repeatedly said he was feeling sick in the weeks leading up to his death.

He died last week at the Harmondsworth removal centre, where he was found by another detainee. According to family members, the 34-year-old repeatedly told authorities he was ill but did not receive medical attention.

“I told him straight away: ‘tell the authorities there and they will get you checked,'” Okwurime’s brother, identified only as Alex, told The Independent newspaper.

“That first week, they didn’t do anything. And the second week, he said they were still saying nothing. The last time I saw him, he told me he was on a waiting list of about 400. He said he was feeling pain in his side.”

Alex, who said his brother did not have any health issues before his detainment, called Oscar’s death “a pure case of negligence”. “If someone is in your custody and telling you they’re not feeling well, it’s your duty of care to get them checked,” he said.

The family’s story was corroborated by two people who knew Okwurime from the Harmondsworth facility. According to one, the Nigerian asked staff repeatedly for a doctor but was told “this was not a quick process” at the facility.

The other said Okwurime tried to get an appointment with a nurse. He had been in detention for about three weeks after entering the UK on a visitor’s visa and subsequently asking for asylum.

The UK has been criticised regularly for its system of indefinite detention for those seeking asylum.

Human Trafficking Kingpin Gets 6 Life Sentences Plus 129 Years Jail Term.

According to iol.co.za, his underage victims are from poor homes and were promised a better life, but had no idea that they were entering his brothel – a house disguised as a barbershop.

The girls, mostly aged 13 and 14, told the court that once high on the drugs, Odi himself raped them “to teach them the tools of the trade” as an initiation into the sex trade.

According to the report, the victims were locked up in the house for the duration of their stay, while Odi send his workers to prowl the streets for prospective clients.

They were also locked up in a dungeon (pictured) under the floor of the house whenever the police raided.

The girls were paid for their prostitution by means of drugs and they hardly got any food. The brothel master took all their proceeds.

According to TMZ, Henrik Olsson Lilja, who initially represented Rocky in July before the rapper’s assault trial began, was shot in the head and chest as he was leaving his apartment on Friday morning (Sept. 6). The gunman reportedly jumped inside of a waiting SUV and fled the scene soon after the shooting.
