SS2 Student Leader Of Robbery Gang Arrested In Cross River (Photo)

The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a Senior Secondary School, SS 2 student, Christian Donatus, aka Inyang, alleged to be the leader of a robbery gang.

Donatus, a student of Eastern Secondary School, Ediba, Calabar, the state capital, had allegedly led his syndicate to raid a shop, Value Mart, owned by the former First Lady of the state, Obioma Imoke, two weeks ago.

According to Daily Post, the suspect was paraded alongside one of his accomplices, Ubong Bassey Essien, on Wednesday before newsmen at the Command’s headquarters.

Parading the 19-year-old man, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ms. Irene Ugbo, said the suspect who hails from Akokwa, Imo State, had been terrorizing various parts of the city, raiding homes, shops and commuters and dispossessing them of their valuables.

She said, “The gang shot a medical doctor at Akim Qua three weeks ago and also carted away safes at a shop along Marian Road, containing large sums of money.

“The suspect and one of his members were arrested on July 16 by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.

“Efforts have been intensified to track down four other members of the gang who are on the run and we hope that very soon they will be arrested and brought to book.

…and then I gave up. Pogba tells of his deciding moment to leave Manchester United

The Frenchman was seen as one of the brightest talents to come through the Red Devils’ academy in years, but elected to move to Serie A in 2012 due to a lack of opportunities.

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has revealed that he left Manchester United because he was overlooked by Sir Alex Ferguson for a game against Blackburn at the end of 2011.

Pogba, 20, found himself on the fringes of the United first team throughout the 2011-12 season, and promptly left for Turin despite being tipped for a long, successful career at Old Trafford.

The Frenchman’s frustrations peaked when he was overlooked for a starting berth against Blackburn, a match United would lose 3-2, even though there was something of an injury crisis in midfield at the time.

“I said to Ferguson: ‘Play me, I am ready.’ Then against Blackburn he puts Rafael in midfield with Ji Sung Park. Then I gave up. I was really bummed.”

“I joined juve to silence people who have criticised me, who did not believe in me and said that I would fail.”

Ferguson claimed at the time that the young midfielder had shown a lack of respect in the way he and his agent, Mino Raiola, had agreed a deal with the Bianconeri behind United’s back.

Since then, Pogba has become a key component of Antonio Conte’s Juventus side, and cemented his reputation as one of the best young players in the world by winning the Golden Ball for his performances for France at this summer’s Under-20 World Cup.

It is understood that United, cautioned by their experience with Pogba, are preparing an unprecedented contract offer for young Belgian Adnan Januzaj, whose contract expires at the end of this season.

Six Nigerians To Be Executed In Indonesia In A Few Hours. Names And Offenses Listed Here

The government of Indonesia is set to execute 6 Nigerians among the 14 prison inmates (four Indonesians and 10 foreign nationals) expected to face the firing squad this weekend in Indonesia. Here are the names of Nigerians likely to face execution and the crimes they committed below…

Humphrey Jefferson Ejike Eleweke: Jefferson, then a restaurant owner, was arrested in 2003 after police found 1.7kg of heroin in a room used by one of his employees. He was sentenced to death in 2004 and has until now declined to ask for presidential clemency as it would entail seeking forgiveness for a crime of which he says he is innocent. His lawyers say there is evidence that he was framed.

Michael Titus Igweh: Titus was found guilty of possessing 5.8kg of heroin in 2002. At the time he was 23 years old. He was sentenced to death the following year. He claims he was subject to beatings and torture in detention, this May telling the district court in Tangerang during his appeal that his genitals were repeatedly electrocuted to elicit a confession under duress.

Okonkwo Nonso Kingsley: Arrested at Polonia airport, in Medan, in 2003, Kingsley was caught with 1.1kg of heroin and sentenced to death in May 2004. The heroin was stored in dozens of capsules that Kingsley had swallowed, found after customs apparently noticed the odd shape of his stomach. The supreme court rejected a judicial review filed by Kingsley in November 2014.

Ozias Sibanda: Sibanda was reportedly arrested with three other nationals from Nigeria at Soekarno Hatta airport in 2001. Like Okonkwo Nonso Kingsley (see above), Sibanda had arrived on a flight from Pakistan and had swallowed capsules of heroin. Sibanda was initially identified as a Zimbabwean national, as he was travelling on a forged passport.

Obina Nwajagu: Nwajagu was reportedly sentenced to death after he was caught at an Ibis hotel trying to buy 45 capsules of heroin from a Thai national. He has been held at Nusa Kambangan prison in Central Java since 2003. Nwajagu’s appeal for clemency has been rejected by the Indonesian president, Joko Widodo.

Eugene Ape: Ape was arrested in 2003 and sentenced to death after 300g of heroin was found among clothes in a bag that he owned. Prosecutors at the South Jakarta district court initially called for a sentence of 12 years before he was handed the death penalty.

Paul Pogba to Manchester United: Juventus midfielder ‘completes move’ to Old Trafford in £112m deal?

After weeks of speculation, it looks like Pogba’s return to Old Trafford has finally been formalised and will be officially confirmed shortly.

Paul Pogba’s return to Manchester United has finally been formalised, according to reports, and is set to be officially confirmed by the club.

The Frenchman will move to Old Trafford as part of a record-breaking £112m deal that makes him the most expensive football player in history.

The Independent understands that United will hand over £92m for the Juventus player while the Serie A giants are expected to foot the bill for the tax.

Because of this, the Daily Mail has claimed that Juventus will announce the transfer fee at £84.3m, just shy of the £86m Real Madrid paid to Tottenham for Gareth Bale in 2013.

Furthermore, United and Juventus have also agreed upon a £20m agent fee for Mino Raiola, with Juventus paying for the additional £4m owed to the Dutch football agent.

This follows the news that Pogba had flown to Los Angeles from Miami for his medical on Thursday evening. With this evaluation now believed to have been completed, the Daily Mail suggests that the 23-year-old has agreed to sign a five-year contract with United worth £290,000-a-week.

Bastian Schweinsteiger retires from international football

Germany captain Bastian Schweinsteiger has announced his retirement from international football.

The 31-year-old Manchester United midfielder was part of the squad that won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Schweinsteiger has scored 24 goals in 120 international appearances.

He retires as Germany’s fourth most-capped player of all time on 120 – behind Lothar Matthaus (150), Miroslav Klose (137) and Lukas Podolski (129).

“I had the opportunity to experience moments that have been indescribably beautiful and successful,” he said.

Schweinsteiger made his international debut in 2004 and holds the German record for European Championship appearances, having played 18 times at the tournament.

The record was broken when he was brought on as a substitute in Germany’s 1-0 group-stage win over Northern Ireland, surpassing Philipp Lahm’s total of 14, before Joachim Low’s side went out in the semi-finals to France.

“I desperately wanted to win that title that we haven’t been able to bring to Germany since 1996,” said the former Bayern Munich player, who could leave Manchester United this summer.

“It was not to be, and I have to accept it.

With the victory of the World Cup in 2014, we achieved something historically and emotionally that I will not be able to repeat in my career.

“Therefore it is right and sensible to stop and to wish the team all the best for qualification and the World Cup in 2018.

A true legend.

Ghanaian bride poses for mugshot in her wedding dress

Forty-five year old Ghanaian bride-to-be, Cecilia Siaw was hauled away by police officers from her wedding ceremony to German fiancé at Portsmouth Register Office, Hants.

Instead of posing for happy snaps with her new husband, she is pictured above in her wedding dress and finest jewellery at a police station.

Home Office officials had dramatically swooped on the ceremony and arrested Siaw over immigration offences. She has now been jailed for six months.

Portsmouth crown court heard Siaw, of Portsmouth, overstayed her leave to remain in the UK and bought a dodgy identity document.

Siaw, a qualified teacher, entered the UK in 2009 legitimately but the Home Office refused to extend her leave to remain in 2013.

Siaw, who was also studying at the University of Portsmouth, forked out £5,000 to a man she didn’t know on a train for a ‘leave to remain’ identity document which was registered to an Indian man.

She claimed the man who sold her the document said he worked for the Home Office.

However, Siaw, who worked as a healthcare worker looking after vulnerable people after studying for her master’s degree, was exposed when she used the fake document at work.

The Home Office were able to spot the discrepancy and swooped in to arrest her on June 22.

Prosecutor James Kellam said: “At interview she claimed she bought the document from a man on a train in circumstances which must have alerted her to the document being either false or improperly obtained. “I say that because the man from whom she bought the document, she says, claimed to work for the Home Office and the defendant said she paid £5,000 for a leave to remain document.”

Siaw admitted one count of possession of an identity document with improper intention and one count of knowingly remaining in the UK beyond the time limited by leave to remain.

We Were Paid Huge Money In Abuja – Bola Ige’s Murder Suspects Confesses

Two suspects undergoing investigation in connection with the murder of former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Bola Ige, have reportedly opened up on their involvement.

This is coming after the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Ibrahim Idris, set up Special Investigative Team, SIT, to probe the murder of late Ige who was shot dead on December 23, 2001, by unknown gunmen in his Ibadan, Oyo State home after his security guards took permission to go and eat. While the SIT is said to be working on unravelling some mystery financiers who provided large sums of cash for the operation to kill the ex-chief law officer,

Vanguard is reporting that four days before Ige was murdered, the prime suspects in the murder had allegedly travelled to Abuja to collect huge sums of money with which the operation was paid for.

Reports say two of the yet-to-be named suspects in the murder case at the weekend confessed in their statements that the ‘Ogas’ told them to give them some time to enable them travel to Abuja to get money to sort out the cost of the operation.

A source told Vanguard that, “In fact, about four days to the date of Bola Ige’s murder, one of the prime suspects traveled to Abuja for funds. Even during the first encounter, the visit to the palace of the Ooni of Ife, where the cap of Bola Ige was removed and thrown away, the prime suspects had returned from Abuja with cash.”

According to the report, information about the money was revealed by one of the suspects because the sharing formula did not favour him.
