The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the abduction to The PUNCH correspondent on Wednesday morning.

According to Fadeyi, “The man, Dayo Adewole, was abducted by four gunmen around 6:30pm at Iroko. The Area Commander in Moniya and other patrol teams had been alerted and are presently giving the armed men a hot chase.

“We are on their trail as I speak with you and more deployments had been made to rescue the guy and track down the abductors,” Fadeyi said.

He added that a vehicle with which the gunmen abducted Dayo had been discovered.

It was gathered that the ex-minister has been informed of the incident and is on his way back to Nigeria from his trip abroad and that the abductors are yet to contact the family.

A source said Dayo was waylaid at gunpoint on his farm in Iroko.

He said “The villagers were alerted by the staff who survived the attack and local hunters were mobilised by the Oniroko of Iroko.

“The hunters were said to have located the car of the abductors along the road to Iware village near Iroko, but are yet to locate Dayo’s whereabouts. It was suspected that the kidnappers might have changed their vehicle following persistent announcement on the radio after the Oniroko of Iroko had raised the alarm.”

Professor Issac Adewole is the immediate past Vice-Chancellor at the University of Ibadan. He was appointed Minister for Health when Buhari became President in 2015.

CONFIRMED: Sarri Leaves Chelsea For Juventus.

Chelsea have announced that manager Maurizio Sarri has joined Juventus on a three-year contract.

The Italian succeeds Massimiliano Allegri after informing Chelsea, who will get ÂŁ5m in compensation, of his desire to return to his native country following their triumph in the Europa League.

Sarri’s departure is set to pave the way for Frank Lampard to return to Stamford Bridge as boss, with Chelsea expected to approach his current club Derby, who have been trying to offer him a new deal.

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia has suggested the club could not stand in the way of Sarri’s “strong desire” to return to Italy and be closer to his elderly parents.

“In talks we had following the Europa League final, Maurizio made it clear how strongly he desired to return to his native country, explaining that his reasons for wanting to return to work in Italy were significant,” she said.

“He also believed it important to be nearer his family, and for the well-being of his elderly parents he felt he needed to live closer to them at this point.

“Maurizio leaves Chelsea with thanks from us all for the work he and his assistants did during the season he spent as our head coach, and for winning the Europa League, guiding us to another cup final and a third-place finish in the Premier League.

“We would also like to congratulate him on securing the role as big as any in Serie A and to wish him the best of luck for the future.”

Sarri leaves Chelsea after just one season in which they finished third in the Premier League – restoring the club’s place in the Champions League – and secured the 60-year-old’s first major trophy as a manager.

This is despite Blues fans expressing their discontent at his ‘Sarri-ball’ tactics and team selections, notably during the 2-0 home defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup in February.

Sky Sports News understands Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola will also leave Stamford Bridge when his contract as assistant coach expires.

Zola, 52, returned to Chelsea last summer on a one-year deal to work alongside Sarri.

It is believed a club ambassador role has been offered to Zola but the Italian would prefer to continue coaching and is unlikely to accept the position.

The task facing Sarri’s replacement

Whoever takes over at Stamford Bridge will not be able to sign any new players, with Chelsea’s ongoing FIFA transfer ban which is pending an appeal lodged with the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Harry Redknapp – Lampard’s uncle – believes the ex-West Ham and Manchester City player can bring through a new wave of young talent from their academy, however, and will not struggle to exert his authority on the dressing room as a former Chelsea great.

The former midfielder has shown managerial promise at Derby, reaching the Championship play-off final in his first season in charge, but it is his storied history with Chelsea that has driven his expected return to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea will start their 2019/20 Premier League campaign with a clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, August 11, live on Sky Sports, after the fixtures were released on Thursday morning.

NBC Suspends AIT, Raypower Indefinitely.

The Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) has suspended the license of DAAR Communications PLC. The Director General of the NBC, Modibbo Kawu stated this Thursday evening while briefing journalists in Abuja.

He said DAAR communications have turned themselves into a bad example of what a broadcast station should be, their license is therefore revoked and they are suspended indefinitely.

AIT and Raypower stations are owned by DAAR communications, chaired by PDP chieftain High Chief Raymond Dokpesi. They have been at the forefront of the electronic media lately, calling out ills in the Nigerian government and detailing the horrors of terrorism to Nigerian viewers, a move which members of the higher echelon of Government have not found amusing.

Nigerians are seeing this act as a gag on the media, especially as the NBC’s excuse in its notice of breach, said the presenter of the program Kaakaki Social, ‘laughed’ following a tweet he read out during the program.

Champions League Winners Sturridge and Moreno Say Farewell to Liverpool.

Liverpool Football Club has today thanked Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno for their outstanding contributions to the club and wishes them all the very best for the future.

The pair are set to leave the Reds this summer upon the expiry of their current contracts – and JĂŒrgen Klopp has placed on record his gratitude for the roles they’ve played since arriving at Anfield.

Sturridge moved to Merseyside from Chelsea in January 2013 and established himself of one of the finest goalscorers in the game, ultimately netting 67 times in 160 appearances for Liverpool.

Moreno, meanwhile, was signed from Sevilla in August 2014 and has represented the Reds on 141 occasions, with three goals to his name.

Klopp told liverpool.com: “The most important words to say to these two remarkable players is ‘thank you’.

“They were here when I arrived as manager and during that period they – as much as anyone – helped to establish us as a team that would be heading in the right direction. Without them we wouldn’t be the team and club we are in this moment.

“Alberto is a person whose personality is reflected in how he plays. Full of life, full of energy, always positive. An unbelievable character who is always willing to give all of himself for the team.

“I know this season, and the end of the last, maybe the minutes on the pitch he would have wanted and deserved were not there, but his contribution did not diminish. How he was in training kept the entire group on their toes. Albie is world-class and I know he will be back in the Spain national team in the not too distant future.

“Daniel has earned the right to be considered a modern-day Liverpool great, I would think. He came to the club while we were trying to rebuild and re-establish ourselves. Some of the goals he has scored for Liverpool were so, so, so important.

“He is one of the best finishers I have ever seen in my life. He scores goals you think could and should not be possible.

“Again, like many players in my squad, Daniel has had to be patient and contribute when asked during games, but even this season he has played a vital role.

“What maybe is missed on the outside of the club by many is what a great leader Daniel is in our dressing room. He is smart, confident and not afraid to speak up when he thinks there is something that needs adapting to help the team. He has been great with many of the younger players also, so he has been so important to our progression here.

“I wish both players nothing but success and joy wherever their journey takes them next. Whoever has them next will be so lucky to have these outstanding personalities in their ranks.

“We will miss them of course, but we can say farewell with the best words possible: Guys, you leave as European Champions.”

It would be interesting to see where these outstanding footballers head to next and who replaces them, but like JĂŒrgen has said, they couldn’t ask for a better way to leave Liverpool. They’re European Champions.

Boko Haram Leader Appears In New Video.

Leader of the Nigerian terror group Boko Haram has appeared in a new video in which he could be seen reading the group’s ideology and the Nigerian national pledge, which he denounced as shirk.

Shirk in Islam means associating a partner with God and is deemed one of the greatest sins in the religion.

Abubakar Shekau reeled out the 35-minute speech dressed in a flowing white gown and clutching an AK 47 rifle.

Conflict journalist Ahmad Salkida, who first published the news about Shekau’s latest video, said he may “have impaired eyesight as he struggled to read his group’s ideology in Arabic.”

The last known video of the Boko Haram leader was a 36-minute clip released in July 2018.

Shekau exclusively led Boko Haram until mid-2016 when the sect split into two. An AFP report said the split occurred because Shekau rejected indiscriminate targeting of civilians.

The splinter group pledged allegiance to the Islamic State and later became the Islamic State in West African Province.

OFFICIAL: Jay-Z is Hip-Hop’s First Billionaire.

Jay-Z’s got something else to brag about — he’s the first hip-hop artist to be worth … ONE BILLION DOLLARS.

Jay’s net worth is officially in the 3-comma club, according to a new Forbes report that totaled all of his income from multiple business ventures and subtracted “a healthy amount to account for a superstar lifestyle.”

When it’s all said and done, here’s a breakdown of the value of his stakes in the empire he’s created:

$310 million for Armand de Brignac champagne.

$220 mill in cash and investments, including a $70 million stake in Uber.

$100 mill for D’Usse cognac.

$100 mill for Tidal.

$75 mill for Roc Nation.

$75 mill for his music catalog.

$70 mill art collection.

$50 mill in real estate.

A whole billion when added together. Needless to say, this doesn’t include the net worth of his other half, Beyonce. The couple has been worth more than a billion combined for quite some time now.

Jay’s claim as the first hip-hop billionaire could actually be contested by Dr. Dre, who said he’d accomplished the feat way back in 2014 after his $3.2 billion deal with Apple.

Forbes said Dre jumped the gun though, and was only worth $800 million at the time.

Anthony Joshua Gets ÂŁ20m Despite Shock Defeat, Andy Ruiz ÂŁ5m For The Win.

Andy Ruiz Jr might have produced one of the biggest upsets in heavyweight history on Saturday, but his pay cheque was distinctly lightweight, compared to Anthony Joshua’s.

The Mexican stunned Britain’s WBA, IBF and WBO champion to shake up heavyweight boxing’s established order in dramatic style.

Ruiz is understood to have made only around £5m from the fight at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden, The SUN has reported.

Compare that to the whopping ÂŁ20m Joshua is thought to have made and you see just how wide the gulf in class between these two boxers was supposed to be.

Despite taking home Joshua’s three belts, Ruiz was not even meant to be on the money list on Saturday night.

He took the fight with just five weeks’ notice after Joshua’s original opponent Jarrell Miller failed three drugs tests in the build-up.

The cash is the largest purse of Ruiz’s career, but he can expect to earn a lot more than that in any rematch later this year.

His previous biggest payday came in at a reported £770,000 for his defeat by New Zealand’s Joseph Parker in 2017.
